On the Road Again – Some Travel Updates

My newest novel, The Discovery, has been out about 7 weeks now and doing well. As of now, there are 55 customer reviews on Amazon, averaging 4.6 Stars. Very grateful for that. And we’ve received some extremely good reviews from a number of magazines and blogs, such as: USA Today, RT Book Reviews, Crosswalk.com and Christianbook.com (to name a few).

Tomorrow (Sat), I’ll be traveling to Orlando for a booksigning at a Lifeway Christian store between 1-3pm with fellow bestselling author and friend, Rachel Hauck. I did a booksigning there last year and it was a pleasant and successful experience. The staff there was very enthusiastic and supportive (I’ve found that makes all the difference at  a booksigning).

I’m very excited about my next trip on June 24th-26th. I’ll be flying to Grand Rapids, MI to visit my wonderful team at Revell, for Baker Publishing Group’s big sales conference. Joining me will be Dr. Gary Smalley, my co-author in our upcoming 4-book Restoration Series. The first book, The Dance, is already complete (working on the 2nd one now). We’ll be meeting with the Marketing and Publicity team, as well as their entire sales team, to discuss and strategize how to get the word out about this series and The Dance, which releases in April 2013.

It’ll be great spending face-to-face time with all these friends and co-laborers. Mostly we just email and talk on the phone.

My next trip is on July 15-16th in Orlando, FL for the big International Christian Retailer’s Show (ICRS). This is going to be so much fun, in some significant ways. My very first “writing event” happened here 4 years ago, just after Revell signed me to publish my first novel, The Unfinished Gift. They invited us to attend Baker’s big author dinner at Epcot, and to just walk around the Orange County Convention center to take in all the sites.

It was an amazing experience. Gave us a real sense of just how big Christian retailing and publishing has become. I remember walking past Baker’s large booth, seeing the books that had just released, watching various authors signing some of those books. Cindi said, “Just think, some day you’ll be sitting behind one of those tables.”

Here we are, 4 years later, and that’s just what I’ll be doing: signing copies of The Discovery, my 5th Revell novel.

It’s been quite an adventure these past 4 years. There are other trips and events planned beyond this. I’ll share them, too, once things get confirmed.
